The University of Alberta’s Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering and School of Mining & Petroleum Engineering takes great pride in developing and mentoring the engineers of tomorrow. Our department is ranked as one of the top civil engineering departments in Canada, and is home to one of the leading mining and petroleum engineering programs in North America.

Applying into Engineering

All first-year applications are completed through the Faculty of Engineering. All undergraduates complete a common first-year before entering the engineering department of their choice. If you have any questions regarding admissions or applying into engineering, please phone (780) 492-3320.

Students may choose one of five degrees:

  • BSc in Civil Engineering
  • BSc in Civil Engineering with Environmental Engineering Option
  • BSc in Civil Engineering with Biomedical Engineering Option
  • BSc in Mining Engineering
  • BSc in Petroleum Engineering
